About Me
Long Term Storage Success

After spending years trying to find a great job, I was finally offered the gig of my dreams. It felt like I was walking on a cloud, until they told me that I would have to relocate to halfway around the world. I was really frustrated, so I decided that it might be best to see about renting a long term storage facility. I didn't want to risk dealing with problems stemming from leaving belongings with a friend or family member, so I worked hard to find an excellent storage facility that would work well. I was able to find a facility that offered long-term units, and they really seemed to understand my needs. This blog is all about storing successfully for as long as you need to.

Are You Planning A Move To Your New House?

Andy Lopez

Are you moving to a new house because you outgrew your present one? Or, maybe you are moving to a smaller home because your children are all adults and have homes of their own. Whatever the scenario, do you already have home movers? Do you have a packing plan? If you need some packing and moving hints before the main event takes place, read on for some thoughts that might turn out to be very useful.

Organize Your Belongings Before The Packers Arrive

You have more than likely already considered how helpful it will be if you get rid of things in your house that you or your family members no longer want or need. There's more that you can do to get organized.

Think of packing some of your belongings yourself. That will probably help you as you organize drawers and closets in your new house. For example, maybe you've decided that in the new house you'll keep extra linens in see-through plastic containers. If that's the case, think of going ahead with that plan by placing the linens in new under-the-bed containers. When you start organizing your new house, the containers will be ready to slide under beds in designated bedrooms.

The same goes for things in your kitchen. For instance, maybe in the new house, you will keep things like tea bags and seasoning envelopes in a hanging cloth shoe bag. Go ahead and place those items in the bag and place them in a super-sized ziplock plastic bag. When you get to the new house, the bag will be ready to hang on the inside of your pantry door.

Communicate Well With The Moving Agent

Think of things that the packers will want to know before they get to your house. Make a written list of those things so that you can tell the agent from the moving company about them.

Do you have extra-large mirrors, large paintings, and other large art pieces? If so, the packers will more than likely use protective wrapping and wooden crates so they won't be damaged. Maybe you have a collection of valuable antique figurines. Tell the agent about those, too.

Will sensitive office machinery be making the move with you? The movers will appreciate knowing that ahead of time. also, tell the agent if you have heavy containers that are full of your food storage supply. It won't hurt to give the agent your written list. Keep a copy for yourself, too.

Don't forget to put aside anything that you might need right away. For example, it might prove very helpful for you to have linens ready so you can make beds for the first night in your new home. Speak with home movers to learn more about what you can do to prepare for a move.
